Overview

LightScout is a browser extension that monitors Core Web Vitals performance metrics. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data LightScout collects and how it is handled.

Data Collection

LightScout collects the following data locally in your browser:

  • Page URLs you visit (while the extension is active)
  • Page titles
  • Performance metrics (LCP, FCP, TTFB, CLS, FID, INP)
  • Timestamps

Data Storage

All data is stored locally in your browser's memory. Your data is:

  • Never sent to external servers
  • Never shared with third parties
  • Cleared when you close the browser tab
  • Cleared when you click "Clear Session" in the extension

Permissions

LightScout requires the following browser permissions:

activeTab / tabs

Required to read the current page URL and title for displaying in the metrics popup.

storage

Reserved for future session persistence features. Currently not actively used.

Host permissions (<all_urls>)

Required to run the metrics collection script on any webpage you visit. This permission is necessary to capture Core Web Vitals using the browser's Performance Observer API. No data is sent to external servers.

Data Export

When you export data (JSON or CSV), the file is downloaded directly to your computer. No data passes through our servers or any external services. The export happens entirely within your browser.

Third-Party Services

LightScout does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or data collection services. The extension operates entirely locally within your browser.
